Show biz power couple Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy were a constant presence on American television throughout the 1950s and ‘60s. In addition to starring in their own sitcom Peter And Mary (aka The Peter Lind Hayes Show) and an innovative variety series called Star Of The Family, they guested on (and sometimes hosted) every major variety program of the small screen media’s golden age.
The multi-talented pair also worked on radio and the Broadway stage, enjoying the energy of live audiences. Their smart comedy style made them a perfect fit for nightclubs and showrooms, an aspect that is aptly represented in their regular appearances on The Stork Club - a musical variety series shot on location at the legendary NYC night spot.
Their many guest appearances on all the popular mid-century panel shows (To Tell The Truth, What’s My Line?, I’ve Got A Secret…) can still be seen via reruns on the Game Show Network and other channels specializing in legacy programming.
And, as if that weren’t enough, Peter and Mary’s joint acting resume includes the distinction of having starred in the only feature-length film written by Theodor Seuss Geisel (better known to the world as Dr. Seuss). This wildly imaginative 1953 fantasy film (intriguingly-entitled The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr. T.) continues to be discovered - and loved - by new generations of pop culture fans.
